Ar Utke Ács
About/Bio
Ar Utke Ács (b. 1993) is working as an artist within contemporary dance and an expanded understanding of choreography. They work with the poetics and politics of the body in the seams of performance, dramaturgy, text, installation, the social and the imaginary. Ar Utke Ács working with discourse in proximity with their artistic production. In particular, they are busy with counter-hegemonic strategies from queer and crip writing and lived experience. Collaborative and collective processes builds the core of this body of work and Ar Utke Ács often works across different fields and mediums of art and research. Throughout the past years, they have created a series of works focusing on affect landscapes and subversive poetics of positioning oneself non-verbally, including the performance echoes that was co-produced with MDT (SE) and Dansehallerne (DK).
Their work has been presented and praised both locally and internationally at Oktoberdans/BIT Teatergarasjen, Baltic Circle, Milvus Artistic Research Center, Charlottenborg and Konstnärshuset. As a performer they have worked with artists such as Ellen Söderhult, Pontus Pettersson, serafine1369, Chiara Bersani, Andros Zins-Browne, Sophia Mage, Galerie Int., Pan Daijing, Soho Rezanejad, and performed at venues such as MDT, Riksteatern, Tate Modern, HAU, Berlin Atonal, Black Box Teater, Dansehallerne, Untitled Art Fair, Den Frie Udstilling, Wanås Konst, Tensta Konsthall and Konsthall C.
Ács holds an education in Dance Performance from Stockholm University of the Arts and is currently based in Copenhagen and Stockholm where they are an active member of respectively Dance Cooperative and höjden studios. They have received several awards for their artistic work and creations.
