louise de venecia
About/Bio
louise de venecia (b. 1994, Manila, she/they) works as a performer, dancer and choreographer based in Copenhagen.
Her work traces the lineages of dance on stage, off-stage, and in clubs. Transformation of style, queer historicity and Asian diasporic narratives roots her inquery into cultural amnesia in the digital age. Through rigorous experimentation and a sensual gymnastics of attention, her artistic practice evokes a controlled psychosis while asking: how do bodies remain well in motion, despite all this shit?
They have appeared in works presented at festivals such as Impulstanz, My Wild Flag, Roskilde Festival, the Venice Biennale and places like all, all, all (Copenhagen), BIT Teatergarasjen (Bergen), Dansehallerne (Copenhagen), Dansens Hus (Oslo & Stockholm), Frascati (Amsterdam), Weld (Stockholm), Kanuti Gildi Saal (Tallinn), MDT (Stockholm), Sadler’s Wells (London), Statens Museum for Kunst (Copenhagen) among others.
